Punk, ska, Oi and psycho tie us all together but what other gems would you like to share?

Gonna give it a listen when i get home, i actually quite like the tiny desk concert series, no matter who the artist is. the one with Foster The People is actually very good, they actually sound far better to me acoustic than they do normally with all the effects.

is that moon hooch band from chicago, chisox?

i quite like them. they sound like buskers but they actually have the talent to do improvs, versus playing sheet music over and over

the front bottoms video is very good as well

Re: Off genre bands/artists that you think others should check out.

To my knowledge theyre not from here. I just stumbled across them cause im also a fan of Tiny Desk concerts. Never really been able to get into the Front Bottoms despite just about everyone I know loving them.

Doubt most people here would like this. But its another group of people I went to school with that started a pop punk-ish band that got signed. If your daughter likes bands like Knuckle Puck she'll probably like them.

"brain" as I hear he is called, not Brian, is not as approachable as the other band members. I love the riffs and the structure. I think he is doing great stuff. But the videos and live performances, implores an almost slave/worshipper status with the other members of the band vs him, and Im not about that

Doubt most people here would like this. But its another group of people I went to school with that started a pop punk-ish band that got signed. If your daughter likes bands like Knuckle Puck she'll probably like them.

Lol this is right up her alley, i havent heard her rocking it but im sure she has heard it. im trying my best to get her to understand that Minor Threat is a band worth digging into. Them and Operation Ivy. These guys are good but they are no Op Ivy

I like a band like Iron Chic more, for this kind of sound, but this band is very good. Credit given where credit is due, this is good music.

Re: Off genre bands/artists that you think others should check out.

chelsea wolf Always puts me in a sad but happy sleepy mood and deserves respect for one of the better electric progressive solo acts of the day

Russian circles are prolly one of the better instrumental rock bands to have spawned out of the genre in the last ten years

Split lip rayfield is a blue grass that really never gets the respect it deserves

Orange 9mm could have had a good run but were to late for the hardcore/punk cross over and to early for the rap/rock era

snot really turned me several different way as a teenager and really helped push the groove/metal/skater punk movement (Rip Lynn strait)

Re: Off genre bands/artists that you think others should check out.

Marriages another great progressive band with Ruth Rundle prolly being the best female vocalist I've ever heard

Mondo generator for my metal factor

Love this split ep eerier as fuck!

And those poor bastards who rank about three in my book of favorite bands and prolly the second greatest dark country behind hank

More dark country in jb nelson
