Um...no? My point was he wants to continue burning fossil fuels indefinitely when we should be moving away from them as quickly as possible.

Re: Anyone else sick of politics?

Woah I missed a lot in my unintentional two week absence. It looks like pretty much everything that needs to be said has been said. But here's a few other things i'll say.

-I hate Trump. I fear what he will do to our country on an environmental level most of all. But can we all take 5 seconds to give Trump credit for successfully hijacking the GOP? He's not a republican he just used their party to gain power. Its what we all hoped Bernie would do. This shows us populism is still possible in our oligarchy. We just need a progressive populist wave in 2018 and 2020.

-Also the DNC are continuing their pure lunacy. Ive heard them floating the idea of Howard Dean for DNC Chair. Or worse, Tim Kaine for President 2020. Fucking kill me if they cant even comprehend what they did wrong this year.

Re: Anyone else sick of politics?

Dude, the fucking Democrat party is a joke. They just voted to keep the same leadership in Congress.

Also I wouldn't really call Trump's ascension "populism", since he got 2.5 million fewer votes than Clinton. The electoral system did its job.

Exactly, Chisox. I fear what Trump will do to this country on EVERY level and I agree/knew he used the Republicans to gain power and win because he knew he couldn't win with the Democrats. It's also no secret that I detest him and Pence. There are some minorities, VERY few, that talk about what he claimed he would do for us and I find that extremely hard to believe coming from a man who stocked the literal White House with racists and a white nationalist, BUT I digress. He already took it upon himself to go speak with the Taiwanese leader, effectively pissing off China. He does what he wants and doesn't give a hot damn. The only "good" thing out of this is that it really does say to kids that literally ANYONE can be president....anyone. The better thing is that he's going to be a one-term president, if he even makes it the entire 4 years.

I really wish Bernie would've ran because he definitely would've won. If Biden would've ran, which we knew he wouldn't but I sure as shit would've voted for him, there wouldn't have even been an election because it would have been all over early on. Even a gigantic narcissist like Trump would've recognized that in both scenarios. Both parties are batshit crazy and lacks any kind of logic, that's been clear.

Why did Bernie "lose" to Hilary anyway? I honestly can't remember and am asking...my brain is old.

"Hey evil, why don't you eat my butt?"

Re: Anyone else sick of politics?

Hillary was seen as more electable according to the official mainstream narrative because Bernie couldn't rally the black and Hispanic vote. In the end Hillary couldn't rally them and she lost the white working class, which Bernie dominated in the primaries.

Re: Anyone else sick of politics?

Hillary owned the DNC and most state/local democratic infrastructures. A lot of fuckery went on throughout the primary season. Look at Arizona, for example. They switched or shut down a bunch of polling locations at the last second, which drove down turnout. That's just one example, there are dozens more you can look up if you choose.

Hillary did have a lock on the blacks, as chisox said, but this was always kind of taken for granted and no news organization ever tried to figure out why. My theory is that if you look at the southeast US, the vast majority of black people are democrats. Most southern democrats are religious and politically moderate. On most social issues a lot of them are actually conservative. If you look at the numbers, the black/white Sanders divide was much smaller in the north and west.

So she had a lot going for her. She's very talkative about her Methodist upbringing if she needs to be. Notorious panderer. Bernie's a Jew and talked begrudgingly and vaguely about a general sense of spirituality, but that was only when he was asked directly about it. Personally I think he's an atheist, and he never said anything to make me think otherwise.

He has a thick accent, Hillary doesn't. She brings up being from Arkansas when she's in the south. Brings up being a senator from NY when she up north. Again, pandering. Pandering works when it comes to your average voter.

Name recognition. People who are not that politically minded just vote for the person they know who is in the party they are in. Pretty simple.

Trump paranoia. People liked Bernie more than Hillary. Trusted him more. Found him more authentic, etc. But there was a huge sense of "We don't really like Hillary but we'd better vote for her because she has a better chance of beating Trump"...even though the polling said otherwise.

Then you had the media bias in Hillarys favor and the DNC kept the debates to a minimum and scheduled them to minimize ratings. Saturday night at 9pm. Really? The Republican debates were prime time and broke ratings.

So Hillary kind of built a fire wall on the first Super Tuesday when almost all the southern states voted. Bernie was chasing that lead the entire primary season.

Re: Anyone else sick of politics?

Well, it just came out about Russia's "possible" involvement in tampering with the election in Trump's favor according to the CIA and Republicans in the Senate and House knew about it, but did nothing which effectively divided them. This is TOO GODDAMN good because it's what everyone was suspecting the election was rigged and my mom called it almost exactly, which is fun because she generally stays away from politics until this one. I'm interesting in seeing how this plays out because that asshole is already in the White House

This is going to be a fun ride.

If he doesnt do something about his conflicts on interests due to his refusal to sell or put his businesses into a blind trust, he will be impeached, i dont see any way around it. His people are soliciting sales from world leaders to use his hotels, talk about you scratch my back I scratch yours. If Obama owned a hotel and was encouraging world leaders to stay at his hotel, people would be flipping out, but Trump does it and people are like, well, its Trump, what did you expect? Well, I expect a leader who leads by example and perhaps a  gentleman with some decorum, even George W had some decorum. Trump is just that meme guy screaming at stuff.

Of course, impeaching him would leave us with Mike Pence as president, who may be a more likeable guy I suppose, but he is just as righteously right wing as Trump. Sometimes moreso, truthfully

Sharing Confidential Information With His Kids

It’s no secret that Trump thinks very highly of his children — of Ivanka in particular. Anyone on the internet has seen the creepy photos. It’s no stretch to assume that he’ll want them to play a role in his presidency as advisers of a sort. There’s nothing inherently wrong with turning to kin for guidance (forgetting for a moment that these same children might be managing his business), until it breaches the realm of classified information. Sharing or otherwise jeopardizing classified information, as the whole country learned exhaustively via Hillary Clinton’s email debacle, is illegal. If Trump was to allow his children, or the family of an administration official, to see information that’s above their pay grade, that is something Congress would and should take seriously.

This may indeed have already happened. It must be recalled that, on November 17, Ivanka was present at a meeting between Trump and the Japanese Prime Minister. She wasn’t really supposed to be there, and may have even been closing a business deal in Japan during the meeting. That’s what you call a two-for-one.

“The President-elect must demonstrate to the American people that he is not using the power of his presidency to enhance his business interests. This is a big deal,” the ranking Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Eliot L. Engel (N.Y.), said Tuesday in a statement. “Leaders in Congress should demand that these conditions be met before we consider any part of the Trump agenda. Otherwise we will have no idea who stands to benefit from his proposed policies.”

To clarify my position, I think Trump is a horse's ass, but I am also someone who lived through the George W. Bush presidency and somehow survived, so now I think about how to fight his more ridiculous promises while living with what he will certainly push through (tax cuts for rich that dont help anyone), but fighting possible loosening of Wall Street laws - just what we need after the 05-10 recession, and his possible Wall Street changes would de-regulate us back to before the Great Depression in the 1930's. We can trust the bankers and moneychangers, right? It's not like history has proven us wrong before several times over

"We've been divided, we've been bled,
Like a chicken without a head.
Running frantically amuck
Taking but not giving a fuck."
